Shannon Graves

MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN

Shannon Graves, M.A., LPC, LIMHP

One of the bravest choices you can make is the decision to understand your own story and make changes in your life that help you grow. I have found that bringing awareness to our patterns and tendencies is a huge piece of the puzzle and I would be happy to help you identify the narratives you want to rewrite. My experience has allowed me to work with a wide variety of therapeutic issues and I enjoy guiding individuals toward healing. My primary areas of expertise are working with the LGBTQ+ community, adults who live with both process and chemical addictions, anxiety, trauma, sex therapy, and family-of-origin and boundary-setting exploration.

I have a collaborative and inviting yet gently challenging style and embrace a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to encourage personal growth, empowerment, and self-awareness. My approach integrates a range of modalities based on individual needs, including Internal Family Systems, mindfulness-based therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Psychoanalytic Theory. I would be honored to take this journey of growth with you and help you discover the tools you already have.

I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a concentration in psychological disorders and

substance abuse from The George Washington University. I am fully licensed in the states of Virginia and Nebraska and can provide therapeutic services to those who reside in these states. I work with adults over the age of 18 and *only* provide telehealth sessions at this time.

I am an approved supervisor by the licensing board in the state of Virginia and am available to provide clinical supervision to Residents in Counseling. Please email me if you are interested in learning more!

My professional services qualify for reimbursement under most insurance plans as an out-of-network provider. Due to my commitment to client confidentiality and a desire to be clinically independent, I do not participate as an in-network provider with health insurance panels. Depending on your mental health coverage, most plans allow you to apply for reimbursement using the monthly billing statement I provide you, or by using this website, which makes the reimbursement process very simple: www.reimbursify.com

If you are active duty military, a veteran, or a dependent, please ask me about the special lower rates that I offer as an appreciation for your service.

I am best reached by email at shannongraves.fcwc@gmail.com, but can also be reached by call or text at (703) 829-6418. I’d love to set up a complimentary phone consultation to see if we’d be a good fit for therapy. I look forward to working with you!
