In 2013 I began studying Thai yoga (also called Thai massage), a long-time interest of hers that dovetails perfectly with her yoga offerings. Thai yoga is a powerful branch of traditional Thai medicine, blending acupressure, stretching and joint rotation to release tension in the muscles and create balance in the body. Thai Yoga is a great compliment to other holistic treatments such as traditional massage, acupuncture, and fitness and nutrition regiments. Benefits include: better posture and flexibility; reduced tension and tightness in muscles; improved lymphatic and digestive functioning; decreased sinus pressure and nasal congestion; increased emotional well-being.

I apply yoga structurally to work with back, hip, knee, and shoulder issues, and have a special interest in working with chronic conditions that affect mobility (MS, Parkinson’s, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia). Yoga Therapy’s integrative focus on movement, breath and mindfulness can be of great benefit for these conditions. The first yoga book I read over 25 years ago was called “Yoga Therapy for Common Ailments.” Since then I have sought to apply yoga to improve my own health, and that of people around me.
